Aerial Manlift Dangers
Aerial manlifts are equipments that use either a series of folding, linked supports, such as a scissor lift or a boom lift or an articulated boom lift. These industrial types of machine enable workers to get in touch with hard-to-reach places. In some ways, these types of machines have made construction much easier and safer, although, the overall safety which comes with the unparalleled mobility of aerial manlifts has applied a new list of dangers which can inadvertently lead to serious injury or even death to unaware drivers.

Falls
Falls from a man lift normally happens when employees cannot secure the harness to the lift or fail to or are unable to wear a safety harness. Falls can take place when a worker on the platform acts wrongly and participates in an activity such as climbing the guard rails to gain additional height. What's more, mishaps could be caused if the operator on the ground causes the machinery to move in an unexpected motion before the employee being properly secured.

Lots of workers also fall because the base of their equipment is inadvertently struck by some other heavy object. During this situation, the force of the blow below becomes amplified by the length of the lift, hence causing the employee to be suddenly catapulted off of the platform. Clearly this dangerous action has catastrophic outcome.

Tip-Overs
Unfortunately, boom lifts are easily susceptible to tipping over. Tip-overs could happen in any type of lift, but are more common in articulated boom lifts. Since boom lifts can move both vertically and horizontally, they are capable of changing the overall center of gravity of the machine. Therefore, if the lift is parked on an incline of some kind or over loaded, completely extending the boom when it is in the wrong position can result in a tip-over situation.
