Clark Diesel Forklifts Oregon

Clark Diesel Forklifts Oregon

Diesel Forklifts Versus Electric Forklifts
Forklifts can function one of two ways, either by electric motor or by internal combustion (IC) motor. Electric forklifts are best for use indoors and cost less to utilize. IC equipment are best for outdoor use and are quicker to refuel.

Electric Forklifts
Electric lifts produce no exhaust, which makes them the machine of choice for indoor use where the quality of air is a problem. Electric forklifts are not noisy and clean. They are 20 - 40 percent more expensive to buy compared to IC lifts, but the operating cost of electric models on a per hour basis is less. The disadvantage is that batteries require 16 hours to charge and cool down, so buying an extra set of batteries is recommended. Electric lifts are not limited to indoor application, but when utilized outdoors they must be utilized carefully.

Diesel Forklifts
Internal Combustion forklifts are for outdoor use, and their carrying capacity is higher than electric forklifts. If your fleet generally runs on one type of fuel, it might be a good idea to buy an IC unit which utilizes the same fuel. They could run on diesel, gas or propane. Diesel is the most economical. IC forklifts have the advantage of being easy to refuel and less expensive to operate; nevertheless, their operating cost on a per hour basis is higher. Most IC models cannot be utilized indoors.

Other Types of Forklifts
Inside warehouses where there are tight spaces, the narrow aisle electric forklift is most suitable. They are constructed to pick up loads without having to face the lift towards the stacks. Rough terrain diesel forklifts have large tires for running on difficult surfaces.
