During the year 1842, Inventor Jerome Increase Case founded Case in Racine. He started building threshing machinery. The company later gained international recognition as the initial manufacturer of steam engines for its agricultural use. Case had established themselves in the construction equipment business by the year 1912. They became a producer of road building equipment including steam rollers and road graders. Case grew their construction machine business through different acquisitions, starting with the American Tractor Corporation in the year 1957. Case had expanded their business by the middle part of the 1990s to become the leading producer of medium-sized to light-sized construction machines.
During the year 1999, Case merged with New Holland to become CNH Global. This business became responsible for advertising several of the globe's leading brands of construction and agricultural machines.
