Utilized to both lower and lift loaded pallets from storage spaces which are high is a narrow aisle forklift. This model is recommended for work environments with narrow spaces between aisles, like warehouses or retail environments. The forklift has small, solid rubber tires that make maneuvering easy.

Generally, the operator of this particular kind of forklift stands up in a small cockpit. The stand-up design enables the narrow aisle forklift to be as short and narrow as possible. A stand-up cockpit forklift normally has three tires: two in the front, and one in the rear. This configuration enables for easy and fast maneuvering. There are some versions of these forklifts that come with a sit-down cockpit. The lift attachment could pivot to the sides, allowing the lift to be operated without the operator having to reposition the entire machine. The sit-down model generally has four wheels.

Many narrow aisle forklifts are powered with an electric engine. Machines which are electrically powered are not noisy and do not make exhaust fumes, making them the suitable choice for closed places such as retail spaces. Several lifts come with a gas engine or a diesel engine. Then again, the diesel model is not suggested to be utilized indoors as it can produce exhaust and be quite noisy.
