Forklift Accidents
Forklift accidents are usually due to the careless use of the forklift. This happens when the operator of the forklift is not properly trained in safety procedures. Anybody operating a forklift has to always be careful to be able to reduce the possibility of mishaps and to be able to prevent possible dangers.

Forklift Accident Statistics:
OSHA, that is responsible for monitoring workplace safety, reports on the occurrence of forklift mishaps. On average, every three days somebody is killed in a forklift accident in the United States. About 95,000 injuries occur in forklift related mishaps on an annual basis. The vast majority of these accidents could have been avoided if correct safety measures had been followed. There are even web sites committed to reporting stories of forklift mishaps.

When there are mishaps related to forklifts, both the business and the individual would suffer. There are numerous reasons why employers have to take steps to minimize the risk. Amongst the biggest reasons is to avoid risk of lawsuits if somebody is injured. Secondly, mishaps cut down on working time. Third, goods and property can be damaged during mishaps. The majority of accidents are attributed to staff who are not trained. Employers are responsible for making certain that employees who are utilizing the forklift are trained in risks and safety. Never let anybody on a forklift who isn't trained to utilize the forklift. Your business should develop and post in a place which is visible all forklift safety procedures.

Instead of going through training because staff are required to, they should have a positive attitude in doing so. You as the employer must help employees understand the significance of correct training. Let them realize that they could kill or injure not only themselves, but other individuals, if they make mistakes. It is up to you to ensure that all your employees go through training seriously.
